City of Van Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Executive Director Tammy Weidman was among 155 in attendance at the Texas Women in EDC Conference hosted by the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC).

Finding connections, finding answers: Patti Huff Williams took her audience on a fascinating family research journey, with the GEDMatch DNA program as the roadmap during the April 27 Spring Genealogy Workshop of the Van Zandt County Genealogical Society. Williams, a genealogist and sought-after genealogy speaker, focused on DNAresearch.

Members of the Republican Women of Van Zandt have been busy with elections and preparation for the upcoming state GOP convention as well as fundraising. At the April meeting, member Debbie Burden was honored with our ‘Girl Power’ award for the first quarter of 2024.

Van Zandt County Judge Andy Reese was authorized by the VZC Commissioners Court to apply for the 2024-25 Texas Historical Commission Courthouse Grant. The grant would total $9.5 million.
