Services for Bennie Merle Crow Barber, 94, of Edgewood, were held Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Bright Star Baptist Church near Edgewood with Bro. Rocky Burrow and Bro. Fred Cooper officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barber passed away January 19, 2024, in Canton. She was born September 21, 1929, in Hiram, Kaufman County, to Henry and Ida Mae (Hogue) Crow. Nannie, as she was known by almost everyone around her, was a pastor’s wife. She taught Sunday School, was a school project maker, enjoyed painting, sewing, making stockings, and canning. She could plant anything, and it would blossom, much like anything or anyone she touched.

She loved music and the Word of God. Bennie was very resourceful and could make something out of nothing. She was a prankster and a great puzzle partner. She loved children of all ages and reassured them that Jesus loved them and so did she.

Mrs. Barber is preceded in death by her husband, Irby Lee Barber; a great-great-grandson, Luka; four brothers, John Henry, Edward, Jewel, and C.V.; one sister, Willie Mae; and her parents Henry and Ida.

Bennie is survived by her daughter, Dianna Barber; son, Ron Barber and wife, Becky. Eight grandchildren: Amanda Mikulak and husband, John; Matthew Lewis and wife, Nancy; Andrew Lewis and wife, Kathy; Dena Meek, Jenny Gallagher, Michelle Loughmiller, Mandy McCrary and Kimberley Noble. Twenty great-grandchildren: Colby, Trae, Justin, Lunden, Alexis, Dillon, Tristin, Eryn, Kylie, Autumn, Luke, Haley, Madison C., Madison L., Hannah, Maiya, Andrea, Layla, Gracee, and Carter. Nine great-great-grandchildren: Emalyn, Ellastyn, Daniel, Lilith, Nolan, Brooks, Linkoln, Haeven, Hayes and one on the way; three sisters-in-law: Janie Crow, Olga Crow and Wanda Barber; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and “earthly” family.

Pallbearers were Johnny Mikulak, Matt Lewis, Andrew Lewis, Trae Smith, Dillon McCrary, Justin Suggs, Tristin Harris and Carter Mikulak. Honorary pallbearers were Linkoln Suggs and Daniel Smith.
